Western Railway's Vigilance Nets ₹20.84 Crore in Fines During April 2024 Ticket Checks

Western Railway's intensive ticket checking drives in April 2024 led to a significant increase in fines collected, totaling ₹20.84 crore, marking a 20% rise from the previous year. Led by a motivated team, these efforts targeted ticketless and irregular passengers across Mumbai's local and long-distance trains.

Under the supervision of senior officers, over 2.94 lakh cases of ticketless travel, including unbooked luggage, were detected, with fines amounting to ₹5.57 crore from the Mumbai Suburban section alone. Additionally, to curb unauthorized entry into AC local trains, surprise checks penalized over 4000 offenders, collecting ₹13.71 lakhs in fines.

Western Railway also launched "BATMAN 2.0," aiming to deter unauthorized night-time travel. This initiative collected fines nearing ₹3.40 lakh during its recent operations in May 2024.

The public is urged to travel responsibly with valid tickets, ensuring smooth journeys for all passengers.
