Mumbai, November 3, 2024: To help travelers during the busy festive season, Western Railway (WR) is operating 320 special trains. This year, Indian Railways is running around 7,500 special trains for Diwali and Chhath Puja, a big jump from 4,500 trains last year.
On November 2, Indian Railways operated over 168 special trains, and that number increased to 188 on November 3. According to Shri Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, these special trains will take passengers to popular destinations in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and Odisha.

To ensure smooth travel, Western Railway has set up special control rooms at various levels, including the Railway Board, Zonal, Divisional, and station levels. These rooms will help manage any issues that may come up during the busy season.
They are also using social media and public announcements to keep passengers informed about the special trains. Staff from Ticket Checking, RPF, and GRP will assist travelers and help manage crowds at the stations.
