Shri Sachin Ashok Sharma, Senior Officer of Western Railway, successfully completed the grueling 122 km Silk Route Ultra Marathon in Ladakh on 6th September 2024. Starting on 5th September from Kyagar Village near Siachen Base Camp, he crossed the Khardung La pass at 18,000 ft and finished at Leh Market in 20 hours and 39 minutes. Only 50% of participants finished this high-altitude race. Shri Sharma is the only Railway officer and civil servant to have completed this challenge, adding to his impressive record in marathons and ultra races. Western Railway lauded his achievement.
