Western Railway is introducing 17 new AC local train services on November 6th, 2023.


Due to the popularity and rising demand from commuters, Western Railway has decided to expand the number of AC local services across the Mumbai Suburban portion starting Monday, November 6, 2023. With the addition of 17 new AC services, Western Railway's overall number of AC services will grow from 79 to 96. In addition, one pair of Dahanu Rd.-Andheri locals is being extended up to Churchgate station to accommodate the demand of Dahanu local passengers. Given the popularity and rising demand from commuters, Western Railway has decided to expand the number of AC local services across the Mumbai Suburban portion starting Monday, November 6, 2023. With the addition of 17 new AC services, Western Railway's overall number of AC trains will rise from 79 to 96. In addition, to accommodate the demand of Dahanu local passengers, one pair of Dahanu Rd.-Andheri locals is being extended up to Churchgate station.

According to a news release released by Shri Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, the number of passengers travelling by AC local trains has increased significantly. As a result, 17 extra AC trains are being added over WR for the benefit of passengers and to relieve congestion. These services will operate as AC services Monday through Friday and as non-AC services on Saturday and Sunday. There will be no such thing. The overall number of services will remain the same, i.e., 1394, including the 96 AC local train services. Aside from that, Train No. DN93004/DN93007, which now operates between Dahanu Road and Andheri stations, would be extended all the way to Churchgate. Shri Thakur further stated that, out of the additional 17 services being introduced, 9 are in the UP direction and 8 are in the DOWN direction. In the UP direction, there is one service each between Nallasopara Churchgate, Virar Borivali, and Bhayandar Borivali, two services between Virar Churchgate, and four services between Borivali Churchgate. Similarly, in the DOWN direction, there is one service each between Churchgate-Bhayandar and Borivali-Virar, and three services each between Churchgate-Virar and Churchgate-Borivali. Shri Thakur went on to say that of the additional 17 services being added, nine are in the up direction and eight are in the down direction. There are one service each between Nallasopara and Churchgate, Virar and Borivali, and Bhayandar and Borivali, two services between Virar and Churchgate, and four services between Borivali and Churchgate in the UP direction. Similarly, in the DOWN direction, there is one service between Churchgate and Bhayandar, one service between Borivali and Virar, and three services between Churchgate and Virar.
