"Western Railway GM Ashok Kumar Misra Leads Swachhata Pledge for Cleaner Railways"


The Swachhata Pledge is administered by Shri Ashok Kumar Misra, General Manager of Western Railway.In line with the "Swachh Bharat Mission," "Swachhata Pakhwada" will be observed on Indian Railways from September 16th to October 2nd, 2023. Western Railway is also planning to implement several sanitation initiatives to brighten up its facilities.

On September 15, 2023, Shri Ashok Kumar Misra, General Manager of Western Railway, launched the fortnight-long campaign by administering the Cleanliness Pledge (Swachchta Shapath).

According to a press release issued by Shri Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, the Swachhta Pakhwada campaign focuses primarily on the cleanliness of station premises, trains, railway tracks, railway offices and colonies, Workshops, Coaching Depots, and Hospitals, ensuring measurable improvements in cleanliness. The Swachchta Pakhwada, which runs from September 16th to October 2nd, 2023, is an occasion for railways to demonstrate their efforts to maintain the highest level of cleanliness in trains, stations, surrounding regions, the Railway Colony, schools, and railway hospitals.

This 17-day campaign addresses 17 various cleaning themes, including Swachh Awareness, Swachh Samwad, Swachh Stations, Swachh Train, Swachh Tracks, Swachh Premises, Swachh Depots/Institutes, Swachh Railway Colonies/Hospitals, Swachh Ahar, Swachh Neer, Swacch Jalashaye and Park, Swacch Prasadhan and Paryavaran, Swachhata Spardha, No Plastic Day, Swachhata Awareness Rally, and Sewa Diwas are all examples of cleanliness campaigns. The Pakhwada would culminate with Swachhata Shramdaan on October 2, 2023, to commemorate Mahatma Gandhiji's birth anniversary. Shri Ashok Kumar Misra launched the programme by distributing the Swachhata Shapath to all principal heads of departments and other officers and staff at Western Railway Headquarters.

The Swachhata Pledge is being administered by the Divisional Railway Manager of the Mumbai Division.

At stations and workplaces, banners, posters, and digital banners are exhibited. Announcements and jingles will be broadcast on station and train PA systems and digital displays. Similarly, the pledge was implemented in all divisions of W. R. by their respective divisional railway managers and at railway workshops by their respective chief workshop managers, with full involvement by all officers and personnel.
