In a move aimed at enhancing track safety and infrastructure reliability, Western Railway has scheduled a significant jumbo block for essential maintenance activities.
Scheduled for Sunday, 17th December 2023, from 10:00 hrs to 15:00 hrs, the jumbo block will affect both UP and DOWN Fast lines between Mahim and Santacruz stations. This block has been planned to facilitate comprehensive maintenance of tracks, signaling systems, and overhead equipment along this crucial stretch.
Shri Sumit Thakur, the Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, highlighted that during this period, all Fast line suburban trains will be diverted to operate on Slow lines between Mahim and Santacruz/Andheri stations. Commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly and expect alterations in their usual schedules.
Moreover, certain suburban trains are set to be cancelled during the block period. Additionally, select Borivali and Andheri-bound trains will terminate at Goregaon station, utilizing the harbour lines.
