Two Sentenced to Life Imprisonment in Dr. Narendra Dabholkar Murder Case


Today, the Special Court for UAPA cases in Pune handed down a significant verdict in the Dr. Narendra Dabholkar murder case. Sachin Prakashrao and Sharad Bhausahab Kalaskar have been convicted for their involvement in the murder and sentenced to life imprisonment, along with a fine of Rs. 5 lakh each.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the case in 2014, following orders from the Bombay High Court, after Dr. Narendra Dabholkar was fatally shot in August 2013 while on a morning walk at Omkareshwar Bridge, Pune.

After an extensive investigation and multiple charge-sheets filed by the CBI, the trial concluded in the Court of Hon’ble District & Additional Sessions Judge, Pune, Special Court for UAPA. Today's verdict by District Judge-9 and Additional Sessions Judge brings closure to this long-standing case.

While Sachin Prakashrao and Sharad Bhausahab Kalaskar have been held accountable for their actions, three other accused were acquitted by the court.

This verdict is a significant step towards justice in the murder of Dr. Narendra Dabholkar, marking the culmination of years of legal proceedings and investigations.
