Today, Peace Protest by Deaf People of State level in Azad Maidan

The State Level Association of the Deaf (SLAD) in Maharashtra is organizing a peaceful protest in Mumbai Toady to stand up for the rights of the Deaf community. They have seven important demands. Firstly, they want the government to create job opportunities suitable for Deaf people who may not have had advanced education. Second, they are asking the government to follow a rule from 2007 that prioritizes profoundly Deaf individuals for certain jobs. Third, they want the selection process for government jobs to be different for different job levels, making it easier for Deaf people to get some jobs. Fourth, they want emergency helplines to be accessible to the Deaf by providing sign language interpreters. Fifth, they want a re-assessment of people who got government jobs with fake disability certificates, replacing them with genuinely qualified Deaf individuals. Sixth, they aim to make Deaf schools safer by replacing male wardens with female wardens. Lastly, they want Deaf representation in government committees as per the law. SLAD believes these changes will make life better for the Deaf community in Maharashtra.
