RPF Constable's Heroic Act Saves Senior Citizen at Akola Station



Akola, August 13, 2024 — In a remarkable display of bravery and quick thinking, an RPF (Railway Protection Force) constable, Shri Vinod Jatale, has been hailed as a hero after saving the life of a senior citizen at Akola station on Monday.


The incident occurred when the Pune-Nagpur Express (Train No. 12135) had just departed from Akola station. A 60-year-old passenger, identified as Shri Balkrishna Ingle, attempted to deboard the moving train. Tragically, he lost his balance and slipped into the dangerous gap between the train and the platform.


Fortunately, Shri Vinod Jatale, who was on duty at Akola station, noticed the passenger’s fall. Reacting swiftly, he rushed to the scene, grabbing the passenger and pulling him to safety, narrowly avoiding what could have been a serious injury or worse.


Shri Balkrishna Ingle, a resident of Akola, escaped the incident unscathed, thanks to the heroic actions of Shri Jatale. Overwhelmed with gratitude, Ingle expressed his deep thanks to the constable for saving his life.


Central Railway has acknowledged and praised Shri Vinod Jatale’s exceptional act of bravery, noting his alertness, courage, and presence of mind. His actions have set a shining example for his colleagues and reinforced the dedication of railway employees who work tirelessly to ensure the safety of passengers.


The Railways also took this opportunity to remind passengers of the dangers of boarding or deboarding moving trains, urging everyone to prioritize their safety while traveling.
