Prime Minister to Inaugurate Amrit Bharat Station Scheme,

Elevating Passenger Experience and Infrastructure at Key Mumbai and Central Railway Stations

Shri Naresh Lalwani, General Manager, while addressing a Press Conference on laying of the foundation stone for 508 Railway stations across the Nation under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme by the Honorable Prime Minister on 6th August 2023 said “The Amrit Bharat Station scheme envisages to take up 76 railway stations over Central Railway for upgradation/modernization and in that, at 38 stations the foundation stone will be laid”. It involves the preparation of Master Plans and their implementation in phases to improve the amenities at the stations like improvement of station access, circulating areas, waiting for halls, toilets, lifts/escalators as necessary, cleanliness, free Wi-Fi, kiosks for local products through schemes like ‘One Station One Product’, better passenger information systems, Executive Lounges, nominated spaces for business meetings, landscaping, etc. keeping in view the necessity at each station. The scheme also envisages improvement of the building, integration of the station with both sides of the city, multimodal integration, amenities for disabled people, sustainable and environment-friendly solutions, provision of ballastless tracks, 'Roof Plazas' as per necessity, phasing and feasibility, and creation of city centers at the station in the long term.
