Udgir, September 4, 2024: President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, delivered an inspiring address to beneficiaries of Maharashtra's 'Shasan Aplya Dari' and 'Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojna' schemes today. Her visit to Udgir highlighted the significant strides made by these programs in fostering an inclusive and prosperous society.

In her address, President Murmu emphasized the importance of these initiatives in empowering women and enhancing self-reliance. She praised the Maharashtra government for its efforts in providing financial literacy, skills training, and livelihood opportunities to women. The President lauded the state's commitment to transparent and accountable governance, which has facilitated the delivery of essential services directly to citizens, thereby reducing bureaucratic hurdles.

Highlighting the impact of women's empowerment, President Murmu remarked, "Educating a woman means educating an entire family and future generations. This holds true for economic empowerment as well. When women are economically empowered, the entire family and future generations benefit."

She commended the central government's 'Lakhpati Didi' scheme, which has reportedly uplifted around one crore women across India, boosting their confidence and awareness. The President also acknowledged Maharashtra's efforts in improving women’s health and nutrition, advising women to prioritize their own well-being alongside their family's needs.

President Murmu noted the increased participation of women in the workforce over recent years but stressed that more work is needed to further enhance their involvement. She called upon men to support women's aspirations and remove barriers to their progress, underscoring that any impediment to women's advancement also hampers societal and national development.

Prior to her address, President Murmu inaugurated the Buddha Vihar and Meditation Centre in Udgir, and paid homage at the statue of Bhagwan Buddha, marking a day of both empowerment and reflection.
