Rio de Janeiro: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral talks with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Monday during the G20 Summit in Brazil. The discussions revolved around strengthening ties in defence, security, trade, technology, and cultural cooperation.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi said, "Glad to have met Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on the sidelines of the Rio de Janeiro G20 Summit. Our talks centred around deepening ties in defence, security, trade, and technology. India-Italy friendship can greatly contribute to a better planet."
The meeting highlighted the growing partnership between India and Italy, with both leaders agreeing to enhance collaboration in areas like education and culture.
In addition to his meeting with Meloni, PM Modi also engaged with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store, focusing on boosting ties in commerce and defence.
Strengthening Global Partnerships
Earlier, PM Modi met Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, marking 75 years of India-Indonesia diplomatic relations. The two leaders discussed expanding the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, exploring new opportunities for collaboration.
"India-Indonesia: Commemorating 75 years of warm and friendly ties! PM Modi congratulated President Prabowo and assured him of expanding the partnership in existing and new areas," said Randhir Jaiswal, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, on X.
PM Modi also met leaders from Portugal and Spain, including Spanish President Pedro Sanchez, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in commerce and defence.
The G20 Summit in Brazil has become a platform for India to deepen its ties with key global partners, reaffirming its commitment to global progress and prosperity.
