"Passenger's Valuables Worth Rs. 2.74 Lakhs Safely Returned by Indian Railways"


In a commendable display of integrity and swift action, the Indian Railways has ensured the safe return of a passenger's belongings, valued at an estimated Rs. 2,74,500/-, that were inadvertently left behind on train no. 22475, coach A1.

The incident unfolded on November 23, 2023, when a notification alerted railway authorities to a black trolley bag near berth no. 07,09 at platform no. 6. Upon investigation by the vigilant Head Guard Salim Momin and P.A. Rajendra Meena, it was discovered that the bag contained a significant cache of valuable items, including clothing, jewelry, and accessories.

Despite initial attempts to identify the owner amongst the bystanders proving unsuccessful, the bag was promptly secured by the railway staff and transferred to the RPF station in Panvel for safekeeping.

Following communication with the concerned passenger, ASI Development Salunka facilitated the retrieval process. Two impartial witnesses were summoned, and an exhaustive examination of the bag's contents was conducted. Among the recovered items were 10 to 12 pairs of clothes, three gold rings, two ladies' bracelets adorned with gold and pearls, a pearl and gold necklace, along with other precious possessions, totaling a substantial worth of Rs. 2,74,500/-.

Under the watchful eyes of the two appointed witnesses and the grateful owner, the belongings were officially returned without any loss or damage. This heartwarming incident culminated in a formal delivery procedure witnessed by the concerned individuals, ensuring the safe and sound return of the valuables.

This exemplary demonstration of honesty and diligence by the railway authorities, in collaboration with the involved parties, reflects the unwavering commitment to customer service and ethical conduct. The successful retrieval and delivery of the belongings stand as a testament to the integrity ingrained within the Indian Railways' operations, leaving a lasting impression of trust and reliability amongst its passengers.
