New Delhi, September 16, 2024: The second edition of the Naval Commanders' Conference of 2024 is set to take place in New Delhi from September 17 to 20. This high-level meeting allows senior naval leaders to discuss critical strategic, operational, and administrative matters that affect the Indian Navy.
The conference comes at a time of evolving global and regional challenges, especially concerning maritime security in West Asia. It plays a vital role in shaping the future of the Indian Navy to address these issues.
Hon’ble Defence Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh, will address the Naval Commanders, focusing on national security and the expectations placed on the Navy. The Chief of Defence Staff, along with the heads of the Indian Army and Air Force, will also participate in discussions to strengthen cooperation between the three services.
The conference will open with a speech by the Chief of the Naval Staff, who will review key activities undertaken by the Navy over the past six months. These include operations, logistics, training, and human resources development. Commanders will also outline future plans to ensure the Navy remains ready to defend India’s maritime interests.
With a focus on emerging threats like drones and missiles, the Indian Navy has demonstrated its strength in securing trade routes, positioning itself as the preferred security provider in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). The conference will review ongoing projects aimed at boosting indigenisation through the ‘Make in India’ initiative, with a long-term goal of achieving complete self-reliance by 2047.
As the Navy continues to modernise and enhance its capabilities, this conference will focus on operational readiness, technological advancements, and furthering the vision of an independent and robust defence force. The gathering reaffirms the Indian Navy’s commitment to being a “combat-ready, credible, cohesive, and future-ready force.”
