The second edition of the 2024 Naval Commanders’ Conference was held from 17 to 20 September 2024 at the newly built Nausena Bhawan in New Delhi. This high-level event brought together top leaders of the Indian Navy to discuss current security challenges and ways to improve the Navy's capabilities. It focused on strengthening the Navy’s combat readiness, fostering cooperation with other military services, and addressing the region's strategic issues.

Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff, opened the conference by emphasizing the importance of keeping the Navy prepared and modernized. He spoke about the rapidly changing global security environment and the need to stay ahead of emerging technologies. Adm. Tripathi stressed the importance of ensuring all naval equipment, weapons, and sensors are ready for combat, with a strong focus on delivering precision firepower. He also highlighted the need for close coordination with the Coast Guard and other maritime agencies to ensure coastal and maritime security.

On 19 September, Hon'ble Defence Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the Naval Commanders. He praised the Navy’s efforts in securing the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) and its role in protecting vital shipping routes like the Gulf of Aden. The minister urged the Navy to maintain high levels of operational readiness and encouraged stronger collaboration with the other branches of the military.

A technology demonstration was also part of the event, showcasing indigenous innovations from the Navy's research arm, including autonomous systems and advanced communication tools. Senior officials like the Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan and Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane attended the demo.

The Chiefs of the Army and Air Force also participated in discussions, sharing their views on national security and highlighting the importance of working together to protect India’s interests.

Throughout the conference, participants reviewed various operational and logistical matters and discussed strategies to address future maritime security challenges. The event underlined the Navy’s commitment to being a well-prepared, modern, and cohesive force ready to safeguard India’s maritime interests.
