A 46-year-old yoga teacher residing in Churchgate, Mumbai fell victim to a dating app scam, losing a staggering Rs 3.36 lakh. The scammer, who identified himself as Amit Kumar, purported to be a doctor from Manchester, England. The woman, having met him on Tinder, exchanged numbers and continued conversation via WhatsApp. On April 25th, the scammer claimed to have sent her a gift, prompting a supposed courier from Delhi to demand money for its delivery. Believing the ruse, the victim deposited the sum into various accounts as instructed. Realizing the deception, she lodged a complaint with the Marine Drive police, resulting in a case being registered against the perpetrator under relevant laws. The investigation remains ongoing.
