Mangal Prabhat Lodha Inaugurates IIJS Signature 2025; Focus on Skill Development with Maharashtra Government


Mumbai, January 4, 2025: Shri Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Maharashtra’s Minister for Skill Development and Innovation, inaugurated the 17th India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) Signature 2025 at the Jio World Convention Centre (JWCC), Mumbai. Organized by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), the event showcases the best of India’s jewellery industry.

The show, held at two locations—JWCC and Bombay Exhibition Centre (BEC) in Goregaon—features 1,500 exhibitors across 3,000 stalls. Spread over 1.25 lakh square meters, it is expected to welcome over 25,000 visitors, including 1,000 international guests from 60+ countries.



Minister’s Vision for Industry GrowthSpeaking at the event, Shri Lodha emphasized Maharashtra’s role in supporting businesses. “Our government, under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis Ji, is committed to helping industries grow. By working together, GJEPC and the Maharashtra government can develop skills and create jobs to boost the jewellery sector,” he said.



Highlights from Industry LeadersShri Saurabh Gadgil, MD of PNG Jewellers, called IIJS a platform for global talent and collaboration. “With government support, we aim to grow India’s domestic jewellery market to $100 billion next year,” he said.

GJEPC Chairman Shri Vipul Shah announced key initiatives, including:

  • A partnership with De Beers to promote diamond sales in India, with an MoU signing on January 7.

  • A collaboration with DHL Express to improve the export process for jewellery sold online.

Shri Shah also revealed plans for GJEPC’s first exhibition in Saudi Arabia, set for September 2025 in Jeddah, to strengthen trade with the Gulf region.

  • Special sections for lab-grown diamonds and couture jewellery.

  • Modern conveniences like facial recognition for faster entry and an app for updates.

  • Networking events like Innov8 Talks and the Celebration Networking Eve.
