Kar Medical College on August 9, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has given Kolkata Police until August 18 to solve the case. Visiting the victim's family, Banerjee warned that failure to do so would result in transferring the investigation to the CBI.

The crime has ignited widespread protests and concerns over women's safety in the city.
