Inspection of Wadi Bunder by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw: Emphasizing Passenger Safety and Innovation


Today, Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, conducted a thorough inspection of the Wadi Bunder Coaching Depot. The focus of this visit was to enhance passenger safety, cleanliness, and service reliability.



Key Highlights of the Inspection

1. Train Safety and Maintenance Improvements:The Minister reviewed advancements made to LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches. Notably, the addition of TPU rings helps reduce spring failures, ensuring a safer and more comfortable ride for passengers.



2. Innovations in Cleanliness and Passenger Comfort:Shri Vaishnaw commended the depot's commitment to hygiene, particularly through an in-house designed litter collector showcased at the "Best from Waste" exhibition. He also examined the cleanliness of employee facilities, such as restrooms. The Minister demonstrated the use of advanced cleaning equipment, including a Dyson vacuum cleaner used in the "14-Minute Miracle" cleaning process for the Vande Bharat Express, highlighting his dedication to passenger comfort.



3. Advanced Technologies for Safety and Efficiency:The inspection included a look at cutting-edge tools like ultrasonic air leakage detection systems, which ensure air brake integrity, and the FIBA (Flushing Indicator and Brake Application) system for timely maintenance. These technologies are already in use on trains like the Rajdhani Express. Additionally, the Minister was briefed on how Virtual Reality (VR) is being utilized for staff training and the integration of IoT-based water level monitoring systems, ensuring passengers have uninterrupted access to clean water.



4. Focus on Maintenance and Training:During his tour of the Vande Bharat Store, where essential parts for Vande Bharat trains are kept, the Minister emphasized the importance of timely repairs and service reliability. He also visited the Basic Training Centre, where he observed training models for LHB coaches, enhancing safety and service standards. The use of VR technology for hands-on training was highlighted as a way to improve staff efficiency in handling technical issues, ultimately benefiting passengers.



5. Passenger Services and Grievance Redressal:At the Integrated Data Centre, Shri Vaishnaw interacted with the RailMadad team, which handles passenger complaints. He expressed satisfaction with their prompt and effective grievance resolution, contributing to greater passenger satisfaction.



6. Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness:The Minister was informed about a new app designed to manage fire extinguishers within the depot, ensuring that all fire safety equipment is well-maintained and readily accessible to enhance passenger safety.
