The 14th World Spice Congress, scheduled to take place in Navi Mumbai from September 15th to 17th, 2023, was discussed in a recent press conference led by D. Sathiyan, Secretary of Spices Board, India. This event, organized by Spices Board in collaboration with trade and export forums, stands as a major platform for the global spices sector. The congress will host policy makers, regulatory authorities, trade associations, government officials, and technical experts from G20 countries, among others.

The Secretary highlighted India's prominent role in the spice market, emphasizing the diversity of production and its contribution to foreign exchange. The Congress aims to facilitate discussions and knowledge sharing between buyers and sellers. This year's edition introduces new features such as State Pavilions and 'Tech Talks' by industry leaders.

The Congress, with an expected participation of 800-1000 delegates from over 80 countries, will delve into post-COVID-19 trends, challenges, and prospects in the industry. Notably, it will include specialized business sessions to promote spice trade and a Reverse Buyer Seller Meet for importers.

Aligned with India's G20 Presidency, this edition will explore fresh opportunities in global spice trade. With a theme of 'VISION 2030: S-P-I-C-E-S' (Sustainability, Productivity, Innovation, Collaboration, Excellence, and Safety), the Congress will address various aspects of the spice industry, from market trends to food safety standards, pharmaceutical uses, and more.

An exhibition, tech talks, product launches, cookery shows, and cultural experiences will also be part of the event. Distinguished awards for excellence in spice export will be distributed, and there will be a focus on showcasing the rich diversity of spices and value-added products.
