Mumbai, November 11, 2024: To ensure everyone has the chance to vote in the Maharashtra Assembly General Election on November 20, 2024, the Department of Industries, Energy, Labor, and Mines has declared a holiday for all workers in establishments under the Industries Department on polling day.
This holiday is in line with Section 135 (b) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, which states that all employees eligible to vote in the election must be given time off to cast their vote. The holiday applies to all companies, factories, and businesses in the Industries Department.
The department also made it clear that workers will not have their wages reduced because of this holiday. All businesses and organizations must follow these instructions. If employees are unable to vote due to not being given time off, action will be taken against the employers.
