Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya Aims High with Advanced Programs in Infrastructure and Transport

New Delhi, 19 November: Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), a Central University established in 2022, is making strides in revolutionizing higher education for the transportation and infrastructure sectors. At its first Court meeting in New Delhi, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw hailed GSV as a transformative institution aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of creating world-class talent in logistics and infrastructure.

“GSV is on track to become one of the top universities globally,” Vaishnaw said. “Its focus on industry-driven programs ensures students are prepared for opportunities in railways, aviation, highways, shipping, defence, and more. Even the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) probationers will now undergo specialized training at GSV, earning an MBA degree that blends theory with hands-on experience.”

The meeting, chaired by Vaishnaw, brought together key government and industry leaders, including Railway Board Chairman Satish Kumar, Vice-Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. NR Raja Subramani, and executives from major firms like Siemens and Alstom. GSV’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Manoj Choudhary, presented a comprehensive progress report highlighting the university’s rapid advancements since its inception.

Delegates praised GSV for its innovative approach to education and its focus on industry collaboration. Suggestions for new initiatives included programs in artificial intelligence, green hydrogen, maritime infrastructure, and the integration of civil and defence logistics. The Court also approved GSV’s annual report and accounts, which will be submitted to Parliament.

Based in Vadodara, Gujarat, GSV operates under the Ministry of Railways and uses Indian Railways’ advanced training facilities to deliver multidisciplinary programs. These span technology, management, and policy, catering to the evolving demands of India’s infrastructure and transportation sectors.

Since its launch, GSV has stood out for its commitment to producing highly skilled professionals and building partnerships with leading global institutions. With plans for programs in bridge and tunnel engineering, aviation operations, and highway engineering, the university is well on its way to becoming a hub for innovation in infrastructure education.

As GSV expands its offerings and strengthens its collaborations, it is expected to play a crucial role in addressing the skill gaps in India’s rapidly growing infrastructure sector, solidifying its reputation as a leader in education and research.
