Kolkata, 28 August 2024 : The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has suspended Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the former Principal of Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College, following allegations of negligence in handling the case of a doctor's rape and murder at the institution. Dr. Ghosh, who resigned and was later appointed to a different hospital, has been questioned by the CBI and took a lie-detector test. The Supreme Court criticized the delay in filing an FIR, questioning Dr. Ghosh's role. While corruption charges loom over him, Dr. Ghosh faces no direct charges related to the murder. Only one person, police volunteer Sanjoy Roy, has been arrested so far.
