October 3, 2024.

The much-anticipated Telugu action thriller Devara, starring Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor, continues its stellar performance at the box office. Directed by Koratala Siva, the pan-India film, which hit theatres on September 27, has captivated audiences across multiple languages including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.

On its sixth day, Devara raked in an impressive Rs 20.50 crore, bringing the total net collection in India to Rs 207.85 crore. The film’s global box office tally has soared past Rs 396 crore, making it one of the biggest successes of 2023. The film, produced on a whopping Rs 300 crore budget, seems set to cross that mark in India soon.

The film's box office performance saw a significant boost on Wednesday, October 2, due to the national holiday marking Gandhi Jayanti. It had an overall occupancy rate of 46.45% in Telugu-speaking regions, with Hindi, Kannada, and Tamil audiences also showing significant turnout.

Devara tells the gripping story of a post-independence village chief’s son, portrayed by Jr NTR, who takes on the dangerous mission of ending smuggling in the coastal lands. Featuring an ensemble cast including Saif Ali Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, and Shine Tom Chacko, the film's period setting, high-octane action, and emotional storyline have resonated well with audiences.

The Hindi version of the film has also performed well, with the total collection reaching Rs 45.87 crore after six days. Early trade predictions suggest that the film may see a slight dip on Thursday, but its strong word-of-mouth and pan-India appeal are expected to keep the momentum going.

Produced by Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, Kosaraju Harikrishna, Sudhakar Mikkilineni, and Hari Krishna K, Devara: Part 1 was initially slated for release on October 10, but the date was preponed to September 27 to avoid clashes during the festive season. With a second part already in the pipeline, Devara looks set to continue its reign at the box office for some time.
