CM Devendra Fadnavis Launches Big Health Mission with ADB Support to Improve Hospitals in Maharashtra

Mumbai,:Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has asked officials to prepare a detailed plan to improve healthcare facilities across Maharashtra with the help of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The goal is to strengthen everything from small health centres in villages to big hospitals in cities.

This plan will be carried out like a mission, said the Chief Minister at a review meeting in Mumbai. The meeting was attended by Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif, Public Health Minister Prakash Ambedkar, and other senior officers.

Focus on Cancer Care

Fadnavis stressed the need for better cancer treatment services in line with the Central Government’s National Cancer Care Strategy. He asked for a proper plan that includes cancer diagnosis, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy, to be completed in a fixed time.

More Government Hospitals Coming

The Chief Minister noted that government medical colleges are being set up across the state. He said there is a need for independent hospitals in places where the population and number of patients are high.

He also said that in districts where new medical colleges have started, the government should check if separate teaching hospitals are needed. He specifically suggested building a new teaching hospital in Dharashiv.

PG Medical Students May Have to Work in Govt Hospitals

Fadnavis also suggested that students who complete their post-graduate medical studies should work in government hospitals for a certain period. This will help improve services in public health centres.

New Projects Across the State

  • Government hospitals are being built in Alibag and Sindhudurg.

  • Tenders have been issued for new hospitals in Amravati, Washim, and Dharashiv.

  • Centres of Excellence are being developed to improve specialised care.

  • A modern Health Information System is being made to manage data and services better.

  • Medical equipment is being bought for hospitals in Satara, Chandrapur, and Sir J.J. Hospital in Mumbai.

  • New institutions for organ donation and transplant are also being planned.

CM Fadnavis said, “We want to make sure everyone in Maharashtra gets access to good and timely healthcare. This mission, with ADB’s help, will take our health system to the next level.”
