Forecasts via Interactive Maps"

Shri Kushvinder Vohra, Chairman of the Central Water Commission (CWC), introduced the "FloodWatch" mobile app, designed to provide real-time flood information and forecasts up to 7 days through mobile phones. The app, developed in-house, offers readable and audio broadcasts and is accessible in both English and Hindi languages. The app also presents flood forecasts for the nearest locations, accessible directly from the Home Page.

The app further offers an Interactive Map feature, allowing users to check CWC Flood Forecasts (up to 24 hours) or Flood Advisories (up to 7 days) by selecting a station from the map or searching station names. State-wise and Basin-wise Flood Forecasts or Advisories (up to 24 hours or 7 days) can also be accessed by choosing specific stations, states, or basins from the dropdown menu.

During the launch, Shri Vohra expressed his excitement, calling "FloodWatch" a user-friendly app that delivers real-time flood situations and forecasts to the public. The app is downloadable for free on Android devices from the Google Play Store and will soon be available on Apple iOS.

The "FloodWatch" app employs advanced technologies like satellite data analysis, mathematical modeling, and real-time monitoring to provide accurate flood forecasts. It enables users to access vital information about flood situations in the country, and its user-friendly interface ensures easy access for staying informed and minimizing risks during flood events.
