Central Railway RPF Team Catches Hoax Bomb Caller in Just 2 Hours

Chalisgaon: The Central Railway's Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP) acted swiftly to catch a person who made a hoax bomb threat at Chalisgaon railway station. The suspect was arrested within two hours of the call on December 9, 2024.

The incident began at 9:16 PM when Police Control helpline number 112 received a call claiming there was a bomb at Chalisgaon station. The message was quickly shared with the RPF, and a search operation began at 9:28 PM.

The RPF and GRP teams, with help from the RPF Dog Squad from Manmad, searched platforms 1 to 4 thoroughly. No bomb or suspicious item was found. The teams immediately informed senior officers and continued their investigation.

Using live mobile tracking, the police identified the caller’s location near the station. By 11:20 PM, the Jalgaon Police team and the RPF Dog Squad arrested the accused, Vikas Eknath Patil. The man, who appeared mentally disturbed, admitted to making the hoax call.

The City Police registered a case (NC No. 1336/2024) against the accused on December 10, 2024.

This quick and coordinated effort by the Central Railway RPF and City Police ensured public safety and avoided panic. Authorities have urged citizens not to spread false information, as it wastes valuable resources and creates unnecessary fear.
