Central Railway RPF Helps Passengers Recover Lost Valuables Worth 4.6 Crore in 2024

Mumbai: Central Railway’s Railway Protection Force (RPF) has gone above and beyond to return lost valuables worth ₹4.6 crore to passengers from January to October 2024. Through their “Operation Amanat” initiative, RPF personnel have promptly retrieved and returned items like bags, cash, mobile phones, and laptops, building goodwill and trust among travelers.

In one recent case, a passenger named Mrs. Vishal left her purse behind on a train from Renigunta to Mantralayam Road. After a quick complaint, the RPF retrieved her purse in just 20 minutes. In another incident, RPF staff at Sion station found a bag with ₹10,000 cash, ATM cards, and documents. With the help of a passbook inside, they traced the owner, Mr. John Peter, who was very thankful to get his belongings back.

This year alone, the RPF helped 1,306 passengers recover lost items, with the Mumbai Division returning ₹2.28 crore worth of valuables to 580 people. Other divisions also played a big role, including Bhusaval (₹1 crore), Nagpur (₹59.38 lakh), Solapur (₹36.75 lakh), and Pune (₹35.22 lakh).

Besides reuniting passengers with lost items, the RPF is dedicated to ensuring safety across railways. They protect railway assets, help stranded children, and keep passengers secure. Their work, summed up as "Suraksha, Satarkta, and Seva" (Safety, Vigilance, and Service), shows their commitment to keeping Indian Railways a safe and reliable choice for travelers.
