"Central Railway GM Unveils IT Solutions for Better Passenger & Staff Benefits in Mumbai"

Shri Naresh Lalwani, GM Central Railway, inaugurated IT-based solutions in Mumbai Division to enhance operational efficiency and improve passenger and staff experiences. These initiatives, developed by RPF, Electrical, and Personnel departments under the guidance of DRM Shri Rajnish Goyal, include:

  1. Untoward Incident Reporting System: An in-house web portal, developed with RPF collaboration, enables stakeholders such as station masters, locopilots, and trackmen to promptly report untoward incidents. This streamlines data collection and record-keeping, reducing processing time for compensation claims and eliminating non-genuine claims.

  2. Web & Mobile App Based Escalator Monitoring System: To address commuter inconvenience due to non-functional escalators, an innovative GSM alert system has been introduced. The real-time monitoring system, managed from a central control room, ensures timely response to non-functional escalators through audio-visual alerts. The system also facilitates scheduled maintenance planning and cost-effective operation.

  3. Quarter Management System: A web-based application simplifies the process of applying for staff quarters, benefiting railway employees. The function was attended by Central Railway HQ and Mumbai Division senior officials, emphasizing the significance of these advancements.
