Shri Naresh Lalwani, General Manager, Central Railway, delivered the Swachhata Pledge to Central Railway Principal Heads of Department, Officers, and Staff at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. Swachhata Pakhwada is observed throughout the railways from September 16, 2023, to October 2, 2023, to promote observable cleanliness improvements at stations, trains, offices, colonies, workshops, maintenance depots, hospitals, and so on.
Railway officers and staff from Central Railway Headquarters and all Divisions pledged to commit to cleanliness and devote 100 hours per year, or two hours per week, to voluntarily work for cleanliness, raise awareness about single-use plastics, reduce plastic use, and start the quest for cleanliness with themselves, their families, their communities, villages, and workplaces.
Shramdaan and tree plantation events were arranged at various offices, units, and depots to raise awareness about the plastic ban and to organise the distribution of cloth bags in partnership with NGOs and philanthropic organisations. Several projects involving ecology and cleanliness have been launched.
Each day has been set aside for cleanliness activities as part of Swachhta Pakhwada, with the Swachhata Pledge being followed by

The Pakhwada will also include competitions and awareness rallies to propagate the message Say No to Plastic. On the day of Gandhi Jayanti, October 2nd, the Swachhata Pakhwada will climax with a variety of festivities.
