Mumbai, In a significant move to enhance passenger comfort and convenience, Central Railway’s Mumbai Division has introduced several new amenities and facilities aimed at improving travel safety and efficiency.
Enhanced Passenger Comfort
To ease movement for passengers, especially senior citizens, Divyangjans (persons with disabilities), pregnant women, and those unwell, Central Railway has installed:
• Two new escalators at Platform No. 1 of Karjat station (Kalyan-end Foot Over Bridge).
• One lift at Platform No. 1 of Shelu station (Karjat-end Foot Over Bridge).
These additions will provide much-needed relief, ensuring smoother transit for commuters.

Improved Passenger Information System
To keep commuters well-informed, the railway has implemented:
• Four new GPS clocks at Sandhurst Road station.
• Replacement of old train indicators with high-visibility indicators at Ghansoli, Rabale, and Airoli stations.
• New all-in-one video display indicators at Ulhasnagar, Vangani, and Neral stations.
• Upgraded public announcement system with new speakers at Ulhasnagar station.
These upgrades will help commuters receive real-time train updates and improve overall travel experience.
Upgraded Ticketing Services
To reduce congestion at ticket counters, the railway has installed:
• 575 new Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) across 86 stations.
• Plans are already in place for procuring an additional 226 ATVMs.
These machines offer quick and efficient ticketing, minimizing long queues and making the process seamless.
Special Facilities for Divyangjan
In a major step towards accessibility, Central Railway has installed 170 new buzzers across various stations on the Main and Harbour lines. These buzzers will help visually impaired passengers locate designated areas for Divyangjan, ensuring greater independence and convenience.
