Mumbai: the Ganapati festival, Central Railway has announced two additional special trains between Panvel and Madgaon. These trains will help manage the extra rush of travelers heading to the Konkan region during the festive period.
According to an official release, the two services will run as follows:
Madgaon to Panvel Special (Train No. 01428): Departing from Madgaon at 09:30 hrs on September 15, 2024, the train will arrive at Panvel at 22:15 hrs the same day.
Panvel to Madgaon Special (Train No. 01427): Departing from Panvel at 23:45 hrs on September 15, 2024, the train will reach Madgaon at 11:00 hrs the next day.
These special trains are expected to provide relief for passengers traveling between Mumbai and Goa, a route that experiences heavy demand during the Ganapati festival.
Key Halts:
The special trains will make several stops at important stations, including Pen, Roha, Mangaon, Khed, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, Sawantwadi Road, and Thivim, among others.
Coach Composition:
The trains will comprise:
1 AC-2 Tier coach
3 AC-3 Tier coaches
2 AC-3 Tier Economy coaches
8 Sleeper class coaches
5 General Second Class coaches (including 1 Guard's brake van)
1 Generator Car
Ticket Reservations:
Reservations for these special services will open on September 10, 2024 at all computerised reservation centres and on the IRCTC website (www.irctc.co.in). General Second Class coaches will run as unreserved and tickets for these can be booked through the UTS app at normal superfast Mail/Express train rates.
