Central Railway Announces No Mega Block on Harbour and Trans-Harbour Lines, but Night Time Disruptions on Slow Lines

Mumbai, September 6, 2024 — Central Railway’s Mumbai Division has confirmed that no Mega Block will be implemented on the Harbour Line (CSMT Mumbai-Panvel) or Trans-Harbour Line (Thane-Panvel) this Sunday, 8 September 2024. However, passengers should anticipate disruptions on the Slow Lines due to a Night Time Mega Block scheduled for late Saturday night into early Sunday morning.

The Night Time Mega Block will affect both Up and Down Slow Lines between Masjid and Kurla from 12:30 am to 4:30 am on 7/8 September 2024. During this period, several changes to train services will be in effect:

  • Down Slow Line Adjustments: Trains departing CSMT Mumbai from 12:14 am to 12:24 am will be rerouted onto the Down Fast Line between CSMT Mumbai and Vidyavihar. These trains will make stops at Byculla, Parel, Dadar, Matunga, Sion, and Kurla before returning to the Down Slow Line at Vidyavihar.

  • Up Slow Line Adjustments: Services leaving Ghatkopar between 12:10 am and 4:24 am will be diverted onto the Up Fast Line from Vidyavihar to CSMT Mumbai, with stops at Kurla, Sion, Matunga, Dadar, Parel, and Byculla.

Key timings to note:

  • Down Slow Line: The last local train before the block will be the Thane Local departing CSMT Mumbai at 11:55 pm. The first local train post-block will be the Karjat Local departing CSMT Mumbai at 4:47 am.

  • Up Slow Line: The last local train before the block will be the Karjat Local departing Kurla at 11:35 pm. The first local train after the block will be the Thane Local departing Thane at 4:42 am.

The Central Railway has stated that these maintenance operations are crucial for ensuring the safety and reliability of the rail infrastructure. Passengers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and to expect some inconvenience due to these essential works.
