The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested seven accused including Proprietor of Private Company, Private Persons, Executive Secretary to CMD of Bridge & Roof Company (India)Ltd(a Public Servant) etc in an alleged bribery of Rs.19.96 Lakh.A case was registered against Proprietor of a private company, other private persons, Unknown Public Servants of Bridge & Roof Company (India) Ltd and Other Unknown Private Persons. It was alleged that a conspiracy was laid amongst the said accused for getting the tender of Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS), Odisha awarded to the private company in lieu of illegal gratification to unknown public servant of Bridge & Roof Company(India)Ltd, Kolkata. It was further alleged that a private person(resident of Kolkata) was demanding bribe on behalf of unknown officers of Bridge & Roof Company (India) Ltd., Kolkata, from the said Proprietor directly as well as through another private person for extending undue favour for awarding the said tender to the private company. It was also alleged that the Proprietor assured to send Rs. 20 lakh(approx)to said private person for unknown public servant of Bridge & Roof Company(India) Ltd.A trap was laid and after delivery of the bribe amount to said private person at Kolkata through alleged Hawala Channel, the said private person and another private person were apprehended. An alleged bribe amount of Rs. 19.96 Lakh was recovered from the possession of said private person.
During investigation, it was found that the said bribe was allegedly meant for Executive Secretary to CMD, Bridge and Roof Company (India) Ltd(a Public Servant). The said Executive Secretary and other private persons were also caught. Searches were conducted at different locations including at Kolkata, Delhi, Noida, Mumbai, Nagpur, Rajkot etc at the premises of the accused which led to recovery of several incriminating documents, digital evidences and cash of Rs. 26.60 Lakh(approx).The Proprietor was produced before the Competent Court at Ahmedabad and was remanded to police custody till 21.09.2023.The remaining arrested accused will be produced before the Competent Court.
