Toady, Arvind Kejriwal has decided to step down as Chief Minister, and Atishi will take his place. The announcement was made during a meeting of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders today.
Atishi, who is 43 years old, currently holds important roles in the Delhi government, including handling education and public works. She has been a key figure in improving Delhiās schools and became a minister after Manish Sisodia, the former Deputy Chief Minister, was arrested. Atishi is also known for her strong support of Kejriwal and has represented the party in important public events.
Kejriwalās decision to resign came shortly after he was granted bail in a corruption case related to Delhiās liquor policy. These elections are expected in a few months, possibly in November, depending on the final schedule.
Atishi expressed her gratitude to Kejriwal for trusting her with this new responsibility. She encouraged the people of Delhi to continue supporting Kejriwal, calling him honest and dedicated to the city.
This marks a significant moment for both Atishi and the AAP as they prepare for the upcoming elections.
