BMC prematurely broke the fixed deposit of Rs 2360 crore in 5 years


BMC  has informed RTI activist Anil Galgali that in the last 5 years, fixed deposits worth Rs 2360 crore have been broken prematurely. In this, the fixed deposit has been broken 6 times in advance to give bonus to BEST.RTI Activist Anil Galgali had sought information from BMC regarding early abolition of fixed deposits in the last 3 years. BMC Deputy Chief Accountant (Revenue 2) gave Anil Galgali a list of 8 fixed deposits which had fallen prematurely. The amount of broken fixed deposits is Rs 2360 crore 20 lakh 19 thousand.Fixed deposits worth Rs 645.20 crore broken for employees.A fixed deposit amount of Rs 645,20,07,000 crore was withdrawn from Union Bank of India on August 29, 2022 to make payment of August salary/pension bonus to pension holders of employees ahead of Ganeshotsav festival.Rs 949.50 crore paid to MMRDA Rs 949,50,00,000 fixed deposit with State Bank of India dated 15 March 2024 for subsidizing MMRDA.Rs 756.50 crore paid to BEST In the year 2019-2020, on 19 August 2019, fixed deposits of Rs 250 crore and Rs 113 crore were broken to give subsidy to BEST. On 21 August 2019, fixed deposits worth Rs 115 crore were broken again to give subsidy. All fixed deposits were in State Bank of India. On March 25 of the year 2022-23, 3 fixed deposits of Rs 100 crore, Rs 92.06 crore and Rs 87.06 crore respectively were broken in a single day. All fixed deposits were in State Bank of India.
