The 76th Independence Day was celebrated at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Headquarters with great enthusiasm. Municipal Commissioner and Administrator, Shri. Iqbal Singh Chahal, hoisted the flag on the morning of August 15, 2023. On this occasion, he conveyed his heartfelt wishes to the people of Mumbai, commemorating the nation's 76th anniversary of independence. Dignitaries like Additional Municipal Commissioners, Joint Commissioners, and Deputy Commissioners, along with various officials, were present for the event. Shri. Iqbal Singh Chahal initiated the event by paying floral tributes and then hoisting the national flag. Addressing the citizens, he shared his thoughts on the significance of the day. During the ceremony, Chief Fire Officer Ravindra Ambulgekar, Deputy Chief Fire Officer Deepak Ghosh, Second Officer Sunil Gaikwad, Chief Firefighter Parag Dalvi, and Firefighter Tatu Parab were honored. The Municipal Security Force was also recognized for receiving the second prize in the state-level Maharashtra Day operation. The security force officers were bestowed with special medals by the municipal commissioner, including Company Commander - Divisional Security Officer Sunil Holkar, Assistant Security Officer Nitin Mahajan, and Sandeep Mule. Shri. Iqbal Singh Chahal's contributions were acknowledged, and he then proceeded to commemorate the 51st Memorial Day of 'Babasaheb Worlikar' by presenting his image in the Mayor's Hall and offering a floral tribute.

बृहन्मुंबई महानगरपालिका मुख्यालयात ७६ वा स्वातंत्र्यदिन मोठ्या उत्साहात साजरा करण्यात आला. महापालिका आयुक्त व प्रशासक श्री. इक्बाल सिंग चहल यांनी 15 ऑगस्ट 2023 रोजी सकाळी ध्वजारोहण केले. या प्रसंगी, त्यांनी देशाच्या 76 व्या स्वातंत्र्यदिनाच्या स्मरणार्थ मुंबईतील लोकांना त्यांच्या मनःपूर्वक शुभेच्छा दिल्या.
या कार्यक्रमाला अतिरिक्त महापालिका आयुक्त, सहआयुक्त, उपायुक्त यांच्यासह विविध अधिकारी आदी मान्यवर उपस्थित होते. श्री. इक्बाल सिंग चहल यांनी पुष्पहार अर्पण करून आणि त्यानंतर राष्ट्रध्वज फडकावून कार्यक्रमाची सुरुवात केली. नागरिकांना संबोधित करताना त्यांनी या दिवसाचे महत्त्व सांगितले.
समारंभात मुख्य अग्निशमन अधिकारी रवींद्र अंबुलगेकर, उपमुख्य अग्निशमन अधिकारी दीपक घोष, द्वितीय अधिकारी सुनील गायकवाड, मुख्य अग्निशमन अधिकारी पराग दळवी, अग्निशामक तातू परब यांचा गौरव करण्यात आला. राज्यस्तरीय महाराष्ट्र दिनी संचलनात द्वितीय क्रमांकाचे पारितोषिक मिळाल्याबद्दल महापालिका सुरक्षा दलालाही गौरविण्यात आले. कंपनी कमांडर - विभागीय सुरक्षा अधिकारी सुनील होळकर, सहाय्यक सुरक्षा अधिकारी नितीन महाजन आणि संदीप मुळे यांच्यासह सुरक्षा दलाच्या अधिकाऱ्यांना महापालिका आयुक्तांनी विशेष पदके प्रदान केली.
श्री. इक्बाल सिंग चहल यांच्या योगदानाची कबुली देण्यात आली आणि त्यानंतर त्यांनी 'बाबासाहेब वरळीकर' यांच्या 51 व्या स्मृती दिनानिमित्त महापौर दालनात त्यांच्या प्रतिमेस पुष्पहार अर्पण करून आदरांजली वाहिली.
