695 candidates are set to contest the Lok Sabha Elections in Phase 5 across 8 States/UTs, according to the latest data released by the Election Commission. A total of 1586 nomination forms were filed for the 49 Parliamentary Constituencies (PCs) in Phase 5. After scrutiny, 749 nominations were found to be valid. Maharashtra leads with 512 nomination forms from 13 PCs, followed by Uttar Pradesh with 466 nominations from 14 PCs. The average number of contesting candidates in a PC for the 5th Phase stands at 14.
